Do we notice the references to new covenant symbols of God, and what he has done for you and me, in terms of where we are today?
Turn in your bibles to Hosea 2 V 19-23 in verses 19-20:
“we are made righteous in judgement with loving kindness and mercy".
In verse 21:
“declared throughout all of creation and the heavens.”
In verse 22:
“The corn is made into bread, they symbol of God’s broken body, for his people."
The wine is a symbol of God’s blood, shed for the remission of sins.
The oil is a symbol of God’s Holy Spirit - The Spirit of Truth, the Comforter, in whom we are sealed. Did you know that the very name Jezebel, translated means the Lord has planted?
In Verse 23:
“Our adoption as His people is declared by God Himself."
How would you describe the effectiveness of Hosea 2 V 19-23 in your life?
Now turn over the Isaiah 61 V 3B:
“We are called trees of righteousness, a planting of the Lord Himself. Was a realisation, what a vision! Top see an to be, the trees of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, along the banks of the River of Life. That flows down from Mt Zion, through the garden of the Lord, and into that wonderful, glory filled New Jerusalem, the city of the Great King. Jesus, Lord of All!"
Can you see yourself in this vision and if not, why?
Now let us read on through verses 10-14 of our text 1 Chronicles 17:
10 And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the Lord will build thee an house.
11 And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12 He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13 I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:
14 But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.
Notice in verse 10:
"the Lord says to David - More over OI will subdue all thine enemies. I will build you a house!”.
Then in verses 11 and 12 he says - “After you are dead, I will raise up from your seed, a ruler”.
Then God says that He will establish His Kingdom for ever!
Turn in your bibles to Matthew 28 V 18B-20:
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Are you using Christ’s power and authority in your life?
Can we see Old Testament promises become New Testament facts?
In all of this, I want you to see something that stands out a 9mile0 kilometre; that in all we have discovered thus far, these promises are “Generational Promises”. In other words, for you and your children, and their children, and their children, and so adinfinitm (forever). As they were for your ancestors, so they will be for your descendants, so they will be for their descendants.
So that all of God’s promises are blessings never change fro one generation to another. Because God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Hebrews 13 V 8:
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Deuteronomy 5 V 9:
9 Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me..
Can you see how we are affected by previous generations, and how we are responsible for our future generations?
In verse 13 and 14, we have two (2) references:
V 13 shows us King Saul, who forsook the ways of God, by losing servant heart, which is when David was appointed by God, to be King.
V 14 - David’s throne and lineage appointed forever. This being a direct reference to Jesus Christ, as King and Lord of all. He was called “Son of David”
Sometimes the sins of one persons in a generation, can make it hard for their future generations to get back on track.
However, through these symbols that God has given us by His grace, and His loving kindness, and mercy there is hope!
His name is Jesus Christ.
"Only through Him by faith can we “Lay hold upon the good things of the Lord””
Can you list all of the “Good Things” God has given you, and what other “Good Things” he has ordained for you and your descendants?
