The Tent Pegs are the most important parts of the tent.
This is because they are used to anchor the tent and its rainfly covering.
They are used in the construction of a tent to tie it down and hold it up by the Guy Ropes.
They see it in the True Square so any wind and rain can’t bring it dow, m and snow on top can’t crush it down.
Also a nail can have a similar function. In this case, we see how these are an Old Testament shadow of JESUS CHRIST in the New Testament.
Isaiah 28 V 16-17:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
As we further see in Ephesians 2 V 19-21, Jesus is our Cornerstone or Anchor.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
See also Hebrews 12 V 2:
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
So we see that the Tent Peg is Straight and True, just as Jesus is our Cornerstone to build on and to anchor us to God’s True Word.
The Peg or Nail being likened to a RULER, like JESUS CHRIST, the KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
1 Peter 2 V 4-6 - Living Stones built up on top of the FIRM FOUNDATION STONE, CORNERSTONE.
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Isaiah 23:8-9 - God has driven Him into a seat of honour.
8 Who hath taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traffickers are the honourable of the earth?
9 The Lord of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
Hebrews 10 V 12-13: Right Hand of the FATHER.
12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Isaiah 33 V 22: The LORD OUR SAVIOUR.
22 For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us.
Ephesians 6 V 13: Do all you know to do, then stand in your faith and in God’s Word.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
The Guy Ropes or Guide Ropes can be likened to God’s Laws and Statutes, both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament.
Keeping under His covering and blessings.
Jesus is like a Battle Bow, shooting forth God’s arrows of judgement, doctrinal truths, to scatter the wicked.
The Bow is a sign of Victory, Doctrinal Truth.
2 Samuel 1 V 18:
18 (Also he bade them teach the children of Judah the use of the bow: behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.)
Psalm 7 V 11-13: Fiery Shafts of Judgement against the Wicked.
11 God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
12 If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
13 He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
We often say and sing in worship “God Does The Fighting For You”.
Exodus 14 V 14:
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
